Sepideh Hassani

was born in 1983 in Tehran. She lives and works in Vienna. She studied Educational Science and Social Work in Vienna as well as photography at the Friedl Kubelka School of Artistic Photography. Her professional career includes work in the areas of violence prevention / anti-racism / anti-sexism / anti-homophobia and anti-transphobia. The artistic work is predominantly conceptual and guided by theory. Anti-racism as well as queer feminist theories are particularly important elements for her work. The main focus of her work is the representation of marginalised and not / insufficiently visible positions. Counter- projects to stereotyped images and ideas as well as the critique of white, male, capitalist norms. The works oscillate between humor and seriousness.
