Sepideh Hassani
was born in 1983 in Tehran. She is currently studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In addition to her PhD degree in Education she also completed the Friedl Kubelka School of Artistic Photography. Her work is predominantly conceptual and guided by theory. Anti-racism as well as queer feminist theories are particularly important elements for her concepts. The main focus of her work is the representation of marginalised and not / insufficiently visible positions. Counter-projects to stereotyped images and ideas as well as the critique of white, male, capitalist norms. The works oscillate between humour and seriousness.
